A good reminder. I didn't grow up in the South but the honey and vinegar was a phrase I grew up hearing. My Mom and Aunt always said, " Like my Mother always said - - - ." She died before I was born but I always felt like I knew her spirit. Thank you.

I needed this to humble me this morning. I was definitely cruel to someone recently on the basis of “returning it in kind” and even though I still feel they deserved it after years of disrespect and now wronging my child, I have regretted much of what I said since I said it. So, maybe if sometimes for no other reason than the peace of taking the high road, I am going to refocus on who I really am and move in kindness

MK, your comments are always thoughtful, even when you are admonishing someone for their less than kind, judgemental words. You are a beacon of kindness and positivity. Keep being just who you are. You are enough!

Thank you for this, MK. So many (including me sometimes) need to read this! Is there a way I can share some or all of this on Facebook? I would never do that without your permission, and without giving credit to you. I know your writing is the way you make a living.

I think that the fools are always good at revealing themselves when people have the chance to point it out, so when censorship comes up it usually seems to protect the fools from being pointed out. We must protect free speech, because everyone starts out with childish ideas and the only way to become mature is to be swatted down by better ideas every so often. Nobody starts out wise, so to get from foolish naivety to wisdom we must be able to show each other what we think
